My journey with Gidget Foundation Australia started during my first pregnancy. I found pregnancy extremely isolating and all the unknowns and changes made me anxious. I brought it up with my obstetrician who recommended I contact Gidget Foundation Australia. Through the support I received, I was able to go into the birth of my son relatively confident.

After the traumatic birth of my son at 37+3 weeks due to high blood pressure, he was born with a low Apgar score, needed to be resuscitated and taken to special care. We had a journey of low birth weight, feeding issues and jaundice that required daily blood tests.

I contacted Gidget Foundation Australian again when my son was 8 weeks old. I realised at that point I wasn’t ready to process what had happened, my Gidget Clinician was so supportive.

Two years later, I found out I was pregnant again and I immediately knew that I needed to connect Gidget Foundation Australia to work through my trauma.

My Gidget Clinician helped me pick an obstetrician aligned with what I was looking for and needing for the birth this time around.  Through various grounding techniques I was able to work through the birth and advocate what I needed and wanted.

I felt so held and supported throughout the duration of my therapy with Gidget Foundation Australia.  I had the birth I hoped and dreamed of, the immediate skin to skin and a healthy newborn.

My journey with Gidget Foundation Australia is one that I couldn’t have done without. I am forever grateful for everything Gidget Foundation Australia has done for myself as well as my family. I have always wanted to support Gidget Foundation Australia in the same way they have supported me.
