Vanessa Shevelev

Registered Psychologist

Vanessa is a Registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS).

She has worked with adults and adolescents across community mental health, corporate, and education settings, and has a particular interest in perinatal mental health. Vanessa is deeply passionate about supporting women and their families through the emotional, psychological, and relational changes of pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.

Vanessa brings a warm, empathic, and trauma-informed approach to her work. She has experience supporting clients experiencing low mood, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, grief and loss, relationship concerns, career challenges, stress, and trauma.

Her therapeutic approach is integrative and evidence-based, drawing on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She also incorporates Attachment Theory and psychodynamic frameworks to support deeper understanding and lasting change.

In addition to her work with Gidget Foundation Australia, Vanessa provides individual therapy through Mums Matter Psychology, supporting women navigating challenges during the perinatal period.

Vanessa has completed specialised training in Maternal Mental Health through the Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE) and is currently undertaking advanced psychotherapy training at Western Sydney University.
