Susmita is a credentialed mental health nurse with experience supporting individuals experiencing complex mental health challenges across community and clinical settings. She has worked with adults facing difficulties such as trauma, anxiety, depression, and psychosocial stressors, with a strong focus on recovery-oriented and person-centred care.
She is warm, empathetic, and non-judgemental, and aims to create a safe and collaborative space where people feel heard, respected and supported. Her therapeutic approach is informed by trauma-informed care and integrates cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), radically open dialectical behaviour therapy (RO-DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and strengths-based practice.
Susmita has a strong interest in supporting people through emotional distress, life transitions, and developing skills for emotional regulation, resilience, and healthier relationships. She has also worked closely with individuals and communities in regional and remote areas, which has shaped her understanding of the unique challenges people face in accessing mental health support.
She is currently undertaking a Master of Nurse Practitioner and a Postgraduate Diploma in Perinatal Mental Health through Federation University to further develop her clinical expertise and support individuals and families during vulnerable life stages.
