Janelle Gullan

Mental Health Occupational Therapist - Start Talking Telehealth

Janelle is an experienced occupational therapist and endorsed mental health practitioner whose personal mothering journey inspired her advocacy and support for perinatal transitions. She is passionate about the impact of matrescence and the rite of passage on mental health, as well as the emotional effects of birth injury on identity and the adaptation to new roles. Her work highlights the occupational impact of pregnancy, birth, and parenting - how these life stages transform our everyday ways of doing and being, and in turn impact our wellbeing.

Drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic and embodied approaches, sensory and body awareness, and trauma-informed care, Janelle supports parents in planning for and navigating the perinatal period. She brings a non-pathologising, compassionate curiosity to the uncertainty, distress, overwhelm, anxiety, or depression that can emerge during these profound life transitions.
