Dr Jaime Garcia is an Associate Professor in Games Development at the University of Technology Sydney, specialising in the design and development of serious games and gamification technologies that promote wellbeing, learning, and engagement. With a PhD in Software Engineering and Information Systems from UTS and a background in computer science from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali, he combines technical expertise with a passion for social impact. His research focuses on leveraging interactive video game technologies such as exergames, virtual and augmented reality, and gamified systems to support physical and cognitive health, particularly for older adults. As a leader of the UTS Games Studio, Dr Garcia drives innovative teaching, interdisciplinary research, and industry collaboration, demonstrating how game development can extend beyond entertainment to create meaningful real-world benefits.
