Sarah is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker who brings a warm, compassionate and non-judgmental presence to parents adjusting to this monumental time of change in their lives.
She works to balance strengths based, empathic attunement alongside modalities such as cognitive behavioural therapy, systemic therapies, compassion focussed therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and schema therapy; tailoring interventions to meet the needs of each individual. She has a strong interest in attachment and works from an attachment and trauma informed lense.
Sarah has 15 years of experience in working with children, adolescents and families in mental health and childhood trauma. She holds Masters qualifications in systemic family therapy from the University of New South Wales.
In addition to her work at Gidget Foundation Australia, she regularly works with new parents in a community based setting, offering individual therapy and group based interventions such as a post natal depression/anxiety group and Circle of Security Parenting. She is a parent herself, and has lived experience of the demands of early parenthood.
